The pet door operates on a very simple principle. Your pet simply pushes the transparent flap with their body, and it lifts up, then closes on its own once the animal has passed through the opening. The Staywell Original model offers 2 setting options: the flap opens both inward and outward, or it is fully locked. If you do not want your pet to leave the house for a period of time, or conversely, you want them to stay outside, you can completely close the passage at any time using the sliding lock panel. Importantly, the flap does not swing back and forth but stops flush with the frame, and a built-in magnet holds it securely in place. This closing system prevents excess outside air from entering your home. However, the Staywell Original can also be successfully installed inside your home to give your pet access to a room where the door is rarely left open, such as the bathroom. It also works well as a balcony exit.

The Staywell Original pet door for cats and dogs is available in three sizes - S, M, and L. It can be installed in brick walls as well as wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors. Installation is straightforward, and the included cutting template and screws will help you through the process. For thicker walls and doors, an additional tunnel extension is recommended (sizes M and L - included in the set, size S - sold separately). How to teach your pet to use the pet door?
After installing the pet door, leave the flap propped open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not fall accidentally, as this could frighten your pet). Encourage your pet to walk through the opening using their favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet by the door on the inside, then by the door on the outside. Practice until your pet walks through the opening without hesitation. Next, repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push the door open to pass through. Pet and reward your animal every time they go through the pet door. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by throwing a ball for your dog through the opening or passing a cat teaser wand through it.
