How to teach your pet to use the cat flap?
After installing the flap, leave it open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not fall accidentally, as this could frighten your pet). Encourage your pet to pass through the opening using its favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet by the flap on the inside, then by the flap on the outside. Practice until your pet passes through the opening without hesitation. Then repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push the flap open. Pet and reward your cat every time it goes through the flap. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by threading a cat teaser toy through the opening.
