A muzzle is an accessory placed over an animal’s snout to prevent unwanted behaviours such as biting or eating things found on the ground. Muzzles can be used for both adult dogs and puppies, depending on the situation, but they must always be properly fitted to the size and shape of the animal’s snout to ensure comfort and safety.
The best basket-style muzzles (physiological muzzles) allow the dog to pant freely, bark and drink water. A puppy muzzle should offer sufficient adjustment so it can “grow” with the young dog. A cat muzzle, on the other hand, can be essential in a veterinary clinic or during a grooming visit.
Muzzles should not be used on animals with health issues such as breathing difficulties or a tendency to overheat.

- Plastic muzzles: lightweight and comfortable; the best models are made from thermoplastic materials, which can be slightly adjusted to better fit the dog’s snout.
Cat muzzles are designed differently from dog muzzles. A cat muzzle resembles a mask which, in addition to preventing biting, also covers the animal’s eyes. For this reason, it is an accessory intended only for short-term use - during grooming procedures or vet visits.
