Pet trackers for dogs and cats are dedicated devices that allow you to monitor your pet’s location using GPS or Bluetooth technology. Trackers are particularly useful if your pet runs away, gets lost, or is stolen. With a tracker, you can quickly and easily locate your companion and help keep them safe.

Pet trackers are small devices that attach to your pet’s collar or harness. They feature a built-in GPS or Bluetooth module that transmits a signal to a smartphone or computer. This allows you to check your pet’s current location on a map or review the route they have taken.
Pet trackers can be divided into two main categories:
- GPS trackers: they work by receiving signals from satellites and transmitting location data to your device via a mobile network. GPS trackers offer global coverage and high accuracy, but they require a SIM card, a subscription plan, and typically have limited battery life.
- Bluetooth trackers: they connect to your smartphone using wireless Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth trackers have a local range and are generally more affordable, but they are less precise and often depend on the presence of other users of the same app nearby.
When selecting a tracker for your pet, consider the following factors:
- Size:
The tracker should not restrict your pet’s freedom of movement. - Weight:
It should be lightweight and not overload the collar or harness. The maximum recommended weight is 50 g. - Water resistance:
The tracker should be resistant to moisture and rain, with a minimum protection rating of IP67. - Battery life:
Long battery life is essential. The tracker should operate for at least several days on a single charge. - Functionality:
Some trackers offer additional features such as an audible alarm, LED light, safety zones (geofencing), or activity monitoring.
- Size:
Simply attach the tracker to your pet’s collar or harness and, following the instructions, pair it with your smartphone or computer using the dedicated app. In some cases, you may need to enter additional information in the app to access all features. Once set up, you can track your pet’s location on a map and receive notifications about their movements.
Keep the tracker clean by wiping it with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use detergents or irritating cleaning agents. Charge the tracker according to the manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure optimal performance.
