PetSafe Extreme Weather Pet Door is a simple accessory designed for installation in doors or walls, giving your pet freedom and independence. These thermally insulated pet doors for dogs and cats allow your animal to enter and exit the house at any time. Whether it's winter or summer, freezing cold or scorching heat - the triple flap with a central thermal insulation layer blocks the influx of extremely cold or hot air from outside, protecting your interior from extreme temperatures up to 3.5 times more effectively than standard pet doors. When the opening is not in use, you can cover it with a snap-on closing panel.

The pet door operates on a very simple principle. Your pet simply pushes the triple-layer flap with its body, causing it to lift and then close automatically once the animal has passed through the opening. The Extreme Weather model offers 2 setting options: the flap opens both inward and outward, or is fully locked. If you want to prevent your pet from leaving the house for a period of time, or conversely, keep it outside, you can cover the opening at any time using the snap-on panel that attaches to the door frame. Importantly, the flap does not swing back and forth but stops flush with the frame, and the built-in magnet holds it firmly in place. This closing system prevents excessive air exchange while your pet passes through the opening.

The thermally insulated pet door for cats and dogs is available in three sizes - S, M, and L. It can be installed in brick walls as well as wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors, with a thickness ranging from 1.6 cm to 5.7 cm. Installation is straightforward, and a special cutting template along with screws are included in the kit to help you. For thicker walls and doors, an additional tunnel is recommended, which is also included in the kit. Both the frame and the flap are made from durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and resistant to weather conditions. The frame comes in a universal white color, but it can easily be painted in any color you prefer.

To make it easier for your pet to use the door, install it at a height where your animal does not have to climb to pass through.

How to teach your pet to use the pet door?
After installing the pet door, leave the flap open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not fall accidentally, as this could frighten your pet). Encourage your animal to pass through the opening using its favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet by the door on the inside, then by the door on the outside. Practice until your pet begins to walk through the opening without hesitation. Next, repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push the door open to pass through. Pet and reward your animal every time it goes through the door. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by throwing a ball through the opening for your dog, or threading a cat teaser wand through it.
