PetSafe Staywell Original 2-Way Pet Door Brown is a pet door designed for installation in doors or walls, giving your pet freedom and independence. This dog and cat flap allows your pet to enter and leave the house at any time. You no longer need to interrupt what you're doing to let your four-legged friend out and then keep watch for their return to let them back in.

The pet door works on a very simple principle. Your pet simply pushes the transparent flap with their body - the flap lifts up and closes automatically once the animal has passed through the opening. The Staywell Original model offers 2 setting options: the flap opens inward and outward, or it is locked. If you want to prevent your pet from leaving the house for a period of time, or conversely, keep them outside, you can fully block the passage at any time using the sliding lock panel. Importantly, the flap does not swing back and forth but stops flush with the frame, and a built-in magnet holds it securely in place. This closing system prevents excess outside air from entering the home. However, the Staywell Original can also be successfully installed inside your home to give your pet access to a room where the door is rarely left open, such as the bathroom. It also works well as a balcony exit.

The Staywell Original cat and dog door is available in two sizes - S and M. It can be installed in brick walls as well as wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors. Installation is straightforward, and the included cutting template and screws will help you through the process. For thicker walls and doors, an additional tunnel extension is recommended (size M - included in the set, size S - sold separately). Both the frame and the flap are made from durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and resistant to weather conditions. The versatile brown color complements a wide range of interiors.

How to teach your pet to use the pet door?
After installing the door, leave the flap open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not fall accidentally, as this may frighten your pet). Encourage your pet to walk through the opening using their favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet by the door on the inside, then by the door on the outside. Practice until your pet passes through the opening without hesitation. Next, repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push the door open to get through. Pet and reward your animal every time they pass through the door. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by throwing a dog ball through the opening or threading a cat teaser toy through it.
