PetSafe SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door Large - Automatic Dog Door

PetSafe SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door Large is a smart dog door with an electronic key that allows your pet to enter and leave the house at any time. You don't have to interrupt what you're doing to let your four-legged friend out and then watch for their return to let them back in. Additionally, this model features programmable access exclusively for selected pets.

The SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door is equipped with a remote control system (automatic mode) that communicates via radio waves with an electronic "SmartKey." The SmartKey is a small device designed to be attached to your dog's collar. When your pet approaches the door, the SmartKey sends a unique signal to the antenna inside the pet door, which unlocks the flap and allows the dog to enter or exit. Once the pet moves away, the flap locks again. This ensures that only your pet can use the door. The set includes 1 SmartKey, but if you have multiple pets, additional keys can be purchased separately. You can grant access to up to 5 pets at the same time. The maximum radio signal range is 91 cm, but you can reduce this distance using the dial on the control panel.

The PetSafe automatic pet door has 3 operating modes. In addition to the automatic mode, where the flap responds to the key signal, you can select a mode in which the door remains permanently open (allowing access to animals without a key) or permanently locked (not responding to the key signal). The system operates even in freezing and hot conditions (-20.5°C to 82°C). The SmartKey is waterproof. Installation is straightforward, and a special cutting template along with a mounting kit is included in the set. Both the frame and the flap are made of durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and resistant to weather conditions. Designed for installation in wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors with a maximum thickness of 51 mm. Battery powered.

The SmartKey included in the set is already paired with the door - no programming is required. If you want to add more pets to the system, program the SmartKey before installing the door to avoid having to hold your pet in the flap opening.
To make it easier for your pet to pass through the door, install it at a height where the animal does not have to climb to get through.

Note:
Some household devices may partially interfere with the key signal reception (e.g., smartphones, televisions, TV remotes, microwave ovens, game consoles), so it is recommended to keep electronic equipment at least 60 cm away from the pet door. The SmartDoor Electronic Pet Door Large is not suitable for wall installation.

How to teach your pet to use the door?
After installing the door, leave the flap open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not fall accidentally, as this could frighten your pet). Encourage your pet to pass through the opening using their favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet by the door on the inside, then by the door on the outside. Practice until your pet walks through the opening without hesitation. Then repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push the flap to get through. Pet and reward your animal every time they pass through the door. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by throwing a ball for your dog through the opening or threading a cat teaser toy through it.
