PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap - Cat Door with Microchip, Automatic & Manual Mode

PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap is a microchip-activated cat door that gives your pet freedom and independence. This cat flap, designed for installation in doors, walls, or windows, allows your pet to enter and leave the house at any time. You no longer need to interrupt what you're doing to let your cat out and then keep watch for its return to let it back in. What's more, this model features access control that blocks unwanted animals.

The cat flap can operate in automatic or manual mode. In automatic mode, it allows entry only to cats whose microchip has been registered in the flap's memory. When a cat approaches the entrance, the built-in microchip reader scans the number from the microprocessor located in the pet's body or on its collar (in the form of a collar tag, available separately). If the number is successfully identified, the access lock is released. Other animals outside the house cannot move the flap or pass through the opening. You can register up to 40 cats in the database (useful for breeders). The cat flap is compatible with the most common type of chip implanted by veterinarians, i.e., the 15-digit FDX-B microchip. The manual mode, operated by a dial on the frame, offers 4 open/close options that work regardless of whether the cat has a microchip or not:

• the flap is fully locked (padlock symbol on the dial)
• the cat can enter the house but cannot exit (inward-pointing arrow symbol)
• the cat can go outside but cannot enter the house (outward-pointing arrow symbol)
• the flap opens in both directions (two-way arrow)

Magnets located at the bottom of the flap and the opening in the frame keep the flap securely in place, thereby preventing excess outside air from entering the house. Additionally, the edges of the flap are lined with a soft strip that provides extra protection against drafts and also reduces noise during operation.

The Microchip Cat Flap is powered by AA batteries. It can be installed in brick walls and wooden, metal, PVC, and UPVC doors, as well as in glass doors and windows. Installation is straightforward, and the kit includes a special cutting template and screws to help you. If you plan to install the flap in a thicker wall or door, this model is an excellent choice, as it features a built-in tunnel measuring 7 cm in length. Both the frame and the flap are made from durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and resistant to weather conditions. Before installing the cat flap, scan your cat's microchip to make sure the flap's reader detects the chip and to avoid having to hold the cat in the flap opening. Once the cat's ID is successfully registered, you should hear the flap unlock.
To make it easier for your pet to pass through the flap, install it at a height that does not require the animal to climb to get through.

Note:
When installing the cat flap in a wall, in a door with a metal core, or in glass doors, walls, and windows, it is recommended to use the PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap Installation Adaptor (available separately) to ensure proper microchip scanner operation and a properly sealed opening. Installation in wooden doors that do not contain metal elements within their construction does not require an adaptor.
The mounting screw kit is located in the battery compartment at the top of the flap frame.

How to teach your pet to use the cat flap?
After installing the cat flap, leave the flap open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not fall accidentally, as this may frighten your pet). Encourage your pet to pass through the opening using its favorite food or treats. First, feed the animal by the flap on the inside, then by the flap on the outside. Practice until your pet passes through the opening without hesitation. Then repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push the flap open to get through. Pet and reward your animal every time it passes through the flap. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by threading a cat teaser toy through the opening.
