PetSafe Big Cat Flap is a pet door for cats and small dogs. It gives your pet freedom and independence. This cat and dog flap, suitable for installation in doors, walls, or windows, allows your pet to enter and leave the house at any time. You no longer need to interrupt what you're doing to let your four-legged friend out, then keep watch for their return to let them back in.

The pet door is very easy to use, both from the pet's and the owner's perspective. Your pet simply pushes through the transparent flap with their body - it lifts up and closes on its own once the animal has passed through the opening. GentleClose™ technology ensures the flap closes slowly and quietly behind your cat or dog, preventing the animal from being startled or getting its tail caught (similar to soft-close mechanisms used in furniture). The Big Cat model features 4 locking options, which can be changed using a dial:

• the flap opens in both directions (open padlock symbol)
• the cat can enter the house but cannot go out (house symbol with arrow pointing left)
• the cat can go outside but cannot come back in (house symbol with arrow pointing right)
• the door is fully locked (closed padlock symbol)

Magnets located along the bottom edge of the flap and the frame opening keep the flap securely in place, thereby preventing excess outside air from entering the home. Additionally, the edges of the flap are lined with a soft strip that provides extra protection against drafts and also reduces noise during operation. However, the Big Cat Flap can also be successfully installed inside the home to give your pet access to a room where the door is rarely left open, such as a bathroom. It also works well as an exit to a balcony.

The Big Cat Flap pet door can be installed in walls, doors (including sliding doors), and windows (even double-glazed), with a thickness of 25-51 mm, made from the following materials: brick, wood, metal, PVC and UPVC, glass. Installation is straightforward, and a special cutting template along with screws are included in the kit. Both the frame and the flap are made of durable plastic, making the product long-lasting and resistant to weather conditions. The universal white color complements a wide range of interiors.

To make it easier for your pet to pass through the door, install it at a height where your pet does not need to climb to get through.

Note:
To install the pet door in glass, you will need the dedicated PetSafe Big Cat Flap Glass Adaptor. Before installation, it is recommended to consult a professional glazier to discuss the feasibility of installing the pet door in your chosen location. Installation in glass thicker than 35 mm requires you to manually fill the space inside the opening (extending the tunnel of the pet door).

How to teach your pet to use the pet door?
After installing the pet door, leave the flap open for a while (you can secure it with a piece of string and tape to the surface above. Make sure the flap does not accidentally fall, as this may startle your pet). Encourage your pet to pass through the opening using their favorite food or treats. First, feed your pet by the door on the inside, then by the door on the outside. Keep practicing until your pet walks through the opening without hesitation. Then repeat the training with the flap lowered so your pet learns to push through the door to get out. Pet and reward your animal every time they pass through the door. You can also incorporate play into the training, for example by threading a cat teaser toy through the opening.
