"Cynology. The Knowledge of Dogs" - 4th expanded edition is an exceptional textbook not only for veterinary students, but also for breeders and all dog enthusiasts and pet owners. Individual chapters cover the topics of origin, basic anatomy, physiology, senses, reproduction, the most common diseases, nutrition, genetics, and behavior. The book presents 198 breeds with brief descriptions and outlines the activities of the Kennel Club in Poland, including the organization of pedigree dog shows and judging. It also contains guidance on breeding pedigree dogs, purchasing, and further rearing. The first edition of the textbook was published in 2003, the second in 2007, and the third in 2011 - all were met with great interest from readers, including students of veterinary medicine, biology and animal breeding, animal science, animal studies, and animal bioengineering.

Due to its comprehensive presentation of knowledge in the field of cynology, this textbook remains the only publication on the Polish market that covers such a wide range of content bringing people closer to their most faithful companion - the dog. In preparing the textbook, the authors drew not only on published literature but also on their own experience, as they have been breeding dogs "all their lives." We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped in the preparation of this textbook, including the Chairman of the Main Board of the Kennel Club in Poland, Mr. Andrzej Mania, as well as the Kennel Club Judges and dog exhibitors for allowing us to photograph their animals. Professor Jerzy Monkiewicz did not live to see the 4th edition of "Cynology. The Knowledge of Dogs." He worked on its development during the most difficult moments of his illness. This book contains as many as 763 pages and is illustrated with color photographs and drawings.
