Although the head halter fastens around the muzzle, it does not function as a muzzle. The collar rests at the base of the snout, leaving approximately 2 cm of free space between the strap and the muzzle (roughly the width of an index finger). When the dog pulls on the leash, the collar applies gentle pressure and softly redirects the dog's head toward you, which diverts their attention from distractions and encourages them to walk steadily forward. A properly fitted head collar does not gag or choke the dog, as it does not press against the nose or throat. Note: The rear strap of the collar must be positioned as high on the neck as possible, directly behind the ears and touching the base of the skull. The strap must fit very snugly against the head to prevent it from sliding down. The muzzle loop should be loose and comfortable, allowing the dog to open its mouth freely.
