Selecting the appropriate power of a direct-action germicidal lamp depends on many factors, including the shape and size of the room (primarily its height). In addition, the degree to which walls and objects in the room reflect light should also be taken into account. Other important parameters include humidity, air dust levels, and the resistance of microorganisms. As you can see, it is difficult to definitively determine how many NBV series direct-action germicidal lamps should be installed in a given room. As a general rule, sufficient microbiological cleanliness can be achieved by installing the following in a room with a ceiling height of 2.5 to 3 m:

• a 2x15W lamp for an area up to 12 m²
• a 30W lamp for an area up to 15 m²

The duration for which a direct-action germicidal lamp should operate depends on the type of room and its intended use. For example, in patient wards, treatment rooms, or operating theaters, the lamps are turned on for 2 to 8 hours. For room disinfection purposes (for example, between procedures), this type of equipment is operated for approximately 15-20 minutes.
